Ontario Mixed Regionals - July 9/10

No Guts, No Glory was our mantra for the weekend. We finally managed to beat Lunchbox in pool play on Saturday, but had some disappointing one-point losses to Bombing Madd Fatties and Liquid. Sunday morning, we couldn't figure out the swirly wind against Bodhi and only managed to score a couple up-wind points, and gave up a few in the process. Our record in round-robin put us 3rd behind Bodhi, and Bombing Madd Fatties, and ahead of Lunchbox, Liquid, and Zen Asylum. We met up with Ottawa rivals in the 3-4 game, and lost 10-9 when Lunchbox picked up their game and were determined not to lose to us again. We went on to beat a strong Liquid squad for the final Ontario spot at Nationals. I hope that Liquid will be able to get a wild-card spot as they proved to be a strong competitor and have definitely improved since last year.

Lowlight:
Losing Shannon Watt on the Saturday game against Lunchbox when she broke her collerbone on a layout bid. Unfortunately she will be unable to play for at least 6 weeks, so that will be a tough loss for us.

Highlight of the weekend
There were so many highlights this weekend, but I think the biggest is that we started playing as a team. Our sideline was super strong, and the play on the field was super strong. We have improved as a team over the past two months, and will continue to do so in the next month leading up to Nationals.
